Sorry its been a while since our last post. We’ve headed back to the states to take care of a few items. Anyone want to buy a car?
So, my wife has always wanted to go whale watching. We even tried when we were in Maine but the weather and the whales were not cooperating. So my wife found an ad in a local paper,
and she emailed Alejandro S. Hess. They scheduled a tour for the next Sunday afternoon at 1pm. Alejandro told her that it was early in the whale watching season and normally he tries for at least 12 people per tour.
On sunday, we rode the buses into Panama City and took a taxi to the Amador Causeway and found Alejandro and his new assistant, Paulo.
At 1pm, we followed Alejandro and Paulo down to the dock and boarded the 56 ft catamaran, Flaminco Cat.
This beautiful vessel has 4 bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, a net covered area in front and a very friendly crew of 2.
We were joined by two other ladies, a real estate agent and her friend and we set sail for the open seas. We headed away from the city and toward Contadora Island.
We sailed past ships waiting for their turn to go through the Panama Canal.
We past to the left of the main island and then around behind the islands.
Once we got behind the islands, our Captain turned left and off our port side, we came across the whales that we had been searching for. 2 adult whales and much to our delight, a smaller “baby” whale.
Now, everyone always asks, “did you see one breech??” Here’s our answer…
Our Captain kept the catamaran along side the whales for the better part of an hour while we took pictures and marveled at the wonders of nature.
The Captain finally turned back away from the 3 whales so they could continue their journey and we made our way back toward Panama City and the marina.
All in all, it was a GREAT day and we would highly recommend Alejandro and his whale watching excursion. And, even if you don’t see any whales (highly unlikely) 4 hours on that beautiful catamaran is well worth the price!!!
